Fairies or Tractors...

Why compromise? Just do both...

With Sarah & Isa absent for the day on the Girl Scout trip... I had a few options for how to entertain the troops. After Jack & Lucy both protested my idea of putting on a SKATE2 demo, I asked them what they wanted to do. Those crafty little planners had heard from their mother that the Mayowood Mansion was having a fair. So, we packed a picnic and off we went.

We had a blast & unexpectedly learned a few things:
  • I learned what a fairy garden is & got to help Lucy make one... while wearing a fairy outfit no less (she wore the outfit... not me)
  • I learned that toddlers like to mix snow (white "fairy-garden" fish gravel) with lake water (blue "fairy-garden" fish gravel)
  • I learned that other adults don't think you are doing a good job at watching your toddler if they mix the main containers of snow (white "fairy-garden" fish gravel) with the main container of lake water (blue "fairy-garden" fish gravel)
  • I learned there's a difference between sheep and goats... as a lady gave me a blank look when I told her Lucy really like the baby sheep that were on display only to be corrected that they were goats. They were still cute.
  • I learned that Lucy isn't afraid of frogs... as I watched her & a group of other children trying to catch them in the fountain. Reminded me of some of the stories Sarah & Molly told me about their childhood.
  • I learned that our little man is already more "manly" than I'll ever hope to be... as he begged & eventually convinced an 80-year-old man to let him "drive" his antique tractor.
